An anecdote attributed to Ruchi Ram Sahni, who reported daily from the morcha: Samundri declared the campaign already won when it had barely begun. Asked how he knew, he pointed to the hundreds of durries the SGPC hospital had urgently needed for the wounded, which arrived the next day fully paid for because local shopkeepers had donated rather than billed — a movement the bazaar pays for, he reasoned, has already won. The anecdote has not yet been traced to Sahni’s book by this archive.
