The Sikh Gurdwaras Act, 1925 — assent and publication
AStrongly documentedLaw & custody
The Sikh Gurdwaras Act, 1925 (Punjab Act VIII of 1925) received the assent of the Governor-General on 28 July 1925 and was first published in the Punjab Gazette on 7 August 1925, transferring management of historic Sikh shrines to an elected representative body. This was the legislative object of the entire movement.
This is the exact wording approved for public display. It is never strengthened beyond what the tier — Strongly documented — permits.

AStrongly documentedIn the scholarly reference works and corroborated elsewhere. Published as fact.
An earlier version of the project’s own research gave 9 July 1925 as the assent date. That is contradicted by the statute’s printed header and is not used. What, if anything, occurred on 9 July 1925 is not established and is not asserted.
